Surgical Morbidity in the First Year after Resection for Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma

Introduction: Surgery for perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (pCCA) is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. The impact of surgery pCCA may affect patients after discharge. aim this study was to investigate all during the first year pCCA. Method: All consecutive liver resections suspected between 2000 2019 at two tertiary referral centers were included. until one collected retrospectively, including readmissions reinterventions. recurrences within scored calculate disease-free survival. Results: In 250 patients, major rate 61% (152/250), in-hospital 15% (37/250) 90-day 16% (40/250). 213 discharged 98 (46%) suffered 260 surgical complications. These complications required 185 in 92 (43%) 400 reinterventions 110 (52%), 330 radiological (83%), 61 endoscopic (15%) 9 (2%). One-year overall survival 77% one-year 70%. Out 20 who died discharge, 15 recurrent disease 3 due related 2 unknown causes. Conclusions: Readmissions, are frequent throughout hospitals. adverse events warrants treatment these complex expertise offering intensive perioperative care close follow-up
